This stunningly beautiful place stretches from Sorrento to Salerno and offers visitors an incredible array of dramatic mountain ranges, delightful beaches, vibrant villages, sea cliffs and towns, captivating views, and plenty of breathtaking sights.

Amalfi Coast - Seasonal Destination

It doesn't matter if you travel during the summer or off-season, the Amalfi Coast is sure to provide a relaxing and enjoyable vacation. Whether you want to spend your days swimming in the sea or exploring ancient ruins, there's something for everyone on this picturesque coastline. Be sure to plan, as accommodation can be difficult to come by during peak periods.

Visiting the Amalfi Coast in the Offseason - Pros & Cons

My boyfriend, his brother, and I recently traveled to the Amalfi Coast in February which is considered the off-season. Winter Months run from from November to March. Pros of traveling to the Amalfi Coast during the offseason: traffic was less crowded, restaurants weren't full, accommodation prices weren't as high, and the weather wasn't as hot. However, if I did it again, I would visit at the end of March as the weather could have been warmer.

Cons of traveling to the Amalfi Coast during the offseason: while the area was still beautiful, many tourist areas had closed down for the winter. There were very few places to explore without having to drive too far. Additionally, it could be quite rainy and windy during this time.

Visiting the Amalfi Coast During the Summer Seasons - Pros & Cons

April to October is considered the "season". Pros of traveling to the Amalfi Coast during this time: the weather is warmer, so you can enjoy swimming in the sea and exploring ruins without the chill air. There are more tourists around, which makes it a great opportunity to meet people from all over the world. During the summer months, the towns come alive with vibrant nightlife and festivals.

When visiting the Amalfi Coast during the season, the cons include the crowds of tourists that come with the better weather, making it difficult to find a peaceful spot; the cost of accommodations may be higher than it would be during other seasons; and some days may be excessively hot, causing discomfort. Traffic, when you travel to different towns to explore, expect to spend some time in the car due to traffic congestion. It is critical to remember that parking is expensive. Daily rates are about €45 in some towns and parking is very limited.

How to get around Amalfi Coast

The Amalfi Coast is a breathtaking adventure, but getting around can be challenging. To enjoy the most scenic drives along the coast, you should rent a car so you can easily stop and take in the scenery.

The main bus company in the region is Sita Bus and has many pick-up and drop-off points in the different popular towns.

You can also rent a car, bike, or scooter. Take care when riding a scooter on narrow roads and be aware of the way Italians drive in this region. While enjoying the picturesque views, the locals will pass you by. Don't worry, this is just how it is in this area.

Naples is the closest airport, where you can rent a car. Make a reservation for a car as soon as possible as prices get high and the number of cars is limited.

If I travel to the Amalfi Coast again during the offseason and not the peak season I would not choose to stay in apartment rentals but choose to stay in one of the main cities. This past time we stayed in a very cute Amalfi Coast home which we found on Airbnb with lovely terraced gardens. The garden includes a spectacular setting of lemon trees. There are no words to describe how beautiful the place was and how wonderful the host was. You could not see the entire coastline but you could see a lot of it. Amalfi's main city is about ten minutes away by car. You can either book the apartment on Airbnb or send the host an email if you're interested.
